BIO

Philip J. Mikal is an entrepreneur with a background in Internet technology, financial services and the real estate industry. He has founded several profitable Internet related companies and has consulted to industry leaders such as Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems.

Philip is also active in the Open Source software community. His comments on the use of Linux in the enterprise were videotaped for display at the March 1999 Linux World conference and his article, Configuring Apache for Wireless Browsers, was published in the July 2000 issue of Linux Journal. In 2006, he sold his interest in Open Source Consulting, an Open Source software consulting company he co-founded with Tony Hansmann.

Philip is an avid food writer and once published the San Francisco Restaurant Insider, a newsletter showing the best and worst restaurants in San Francisco. He stopped publication in 2005 and most of its readers are now members of the review website Yelp.

In addition to sharing his knowledge through publication, he is an inventor of several patented and patent-pending processes.

Philip is currently co-founder of BuyerHunt and a consulting executive to start-up companies.

When not at work, Philip's other interests include sailing, scuba, music production, modern event management, sporting clays, travel and the culinary arts.

Philip, an Arizona native, lives in San Francisco, California, just north of Silicon Valley.
